About

History

Upper Valley Christian School came into existence in 1979 as a ministry of the Leavenworth Church of the Nazarene because Pastor Jim West had a vision to begin a Christian School in the Upper Valley. It began with just 20 students, and in the years since we have had the opportunity to minister to around 600 students. Some of them have subsequently graduated from college, gone to the mission field, medical school, the military or other fields of endeavor. We have even had our first second-generation student enroll in 1994-95.

God has truly blessed UVCS in those years. He has been faithful in every way through difficult financial times, trials, and growth. His faithfulness to us demonstrates our need to be faithful to Him in everything that we do. This is His school above all else. He established it. He sustains it. Without Him, we would be lost. It is our responsibility to be faithful to Him who called us.

Our Purpose

The staff of Upper Valley Christian School is committed to these objectives and works diligently to obtain the goals we have set for our students. High academic standards are supported by a curriculum that builds skills from grade level to grade level to enhance student success and growth. Small classroom size and a low student to teacher ratio make it possible for staff to connect with students and know their specific needs. Direct classroom instruction is enhanced with many opportunities for students to experience learning through field trips and outdoor education camps.

Upper Valley Christian School is a state approved K-12 school providing a rigorous and well rounded education. All teachers are certificated with many years of classroom experience. In addition to classroom teachers, other instructors assist by: helping students with special needs, instructing in Spanish language at all grade levels, and teaching fine arts.

Equally important to the academic standards is the development of students to reflect the character of Christ. All subjects are taught from a biblical perspective so that students will see the relevance of God in all aspects of life. Behavior expectations are high and reinforced through a school-wide discipline plan. Weekly chapel and Bible classes guide students and nurture their walk with God.

Our ultimate goal is to prepare students for their future and encourage each one to have a strong, vital relationship with Jesus Christ.

Our Mission

The mission of Upper Valley Christian School is to provide a quality education in an environment that develops students to reflect the character of Christ in order that they will impact the world for His glory.

Beliefs

We believe:
• There is one God who manifests himself in three persons: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
• The entire Bible is infallible and has been inspired by the Holy Spirit. It contains all truth necessary for faith and Christian living.
• That man is born with a sinful nature, which separates him from relationship with God, and is therefore is in need of redemption.
• The sacrificial death and subsequent resurrection of Jesus Christ has atoned for the sins of all creation.
• Whoever acknowledges their sin, and accepts the atoning work of Jesus Christ, is justified and saved from the condemnation of sin.
• Salvation is a gift and cannot be earned by human work or effort.
• Authentic believers in Christ are in a constant process of growth and maturing in their relationship and walk with God.
• Jesus Christ will someday return to earth, and he will judge the condition of the heart and determine the eternity of each person.
